The Congregation of the Refuge Temple Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic in Roxbury has been holding their services in the ground floor of a two-family building. Urban Determination has been shepherding the design of a new church building through the approval process for several years. The building will sit on the footprint of a former carriage house and allow the congregants to expand their activities, including celebrations, day care, and music.
Plans for a new four-family owner-occupied building at 693 Cummins Highway in Mattapan are moving ahead. Within steps of the new Mattapan Square commuter rail station this building will provide much needed housing and financial security for the owners, long-time residents of the community.
